Live music website Qello has launched its first iOS app, which promises subscribers the chance to watch a range of filmed gigs in high-definition. The app – called simply Qello: Watch HD Music Concerts – is a free download and works on iPhone, iPad and iPod touch. There are free previews, but to watch the proper content people will need to sign up to a $4.99 monthly subscription via Apple. That will provide access to full shows, as well as the option to create ‘Qello Setlists’ – playlists of songs from different gigs. The app uses Apple’s AirPlay technology to stream video to larger screens (i.e. TVs), and includes social features. “Looking for Eminem? We’ve got the real Slim Shady. Bob Marley? Lively up yourself. Rolling Stones? Start me up.” And so on.
