We’ve covered the growing popularity of Tumblr among artists, but there are platforms emerging with a specific musical focus. Backplane is one – already powering Lady Gaga’s Little Monsters community – and now StageBloc is another. Hypebot reports that it offers blogging tools, photo albums and events listings, as well as iOS and Android apps to post from smartphones. The platform can pull in content from other services like Instagram, and the startup is working on adding audio capabilities too. Artists can use basic templates, but those with more of a budget can develop on top of StageBloc. Currently there are Free and Basic tiers – free and $10 a month respectively – with Standard and Premium coming soon for more features.
