There was a flurry of excitement yesterday at the launch of WhoDat, which described itself as “The Facebook of websites” and purported to be launched by Kanye West’s Donda startup. Donda is the collective formed by West to brainstorm and launch interesting tech stuff, but this seemed like a strange first product. But no: it’s a great big fake, complete with fake Donda Twitter and Tumblr accounts. It was the work of a group of coders called OKFocus, who admit it “played into a lot of people’s assumptions about Donda”. The internet awaits Kanye’s first actual site or app, still.
