Some of the leading music hackers spent this weekend holed up on a yacht in Cannes for the MIPCube TV Hack Day – inspired by the successful Music Hack Day at Midem earlier this year. Martyn Davies and Syd Lawrence, who’ll be familiar to any Music Ally readers who’ve followed the Music Hack Days, were two on board in Cannes. But it seems the API pickings were thin compared to the music events. “The data coming out of broadcasters is sh*t. There is no data from your industry out there that we can actually play around with. I honestly think you should start to change that… Radio is so far ahead of TV. If you work in TV and are to do with the data, just think that radio is beating you! That’s all you need to know.”
