The denials are rolling in following Paramount Pictures’ announcement of the five ‘rogue’ online storage services it would like to see shut down following Megaupload. One of the five, PutLocker, has hit back against the characterisation. “In any other industry, a person making this type of statement could be sued for libel. Funny how that works,” operations officer Adrian Petroff tells TorrentFreak. “PutLocker takes a strong stand against copyright infringement and in the past year and a half we have taken down hundreds of thousands of infringing files and blocked the accounts of hundreds of repeat offenders.” The site is attracting 1.6m daily visitors, double the number before Megaupload shut down.
