Shazam has launched the latest version of its iPhone app – 5.0 – with speed the key improvement. The company claims the app can now identify music and TV content in as little as one second. A big speed bump, and one which tackles head-on one of the previously-trumpeted advantages of rival apps like SoundHound. The app can now instantly begin listening when it’s started up, and users can now edit tweets about what they’ve been tagging before sending them. The app now also has language support for Latin American countries. The speed increase is most useful for Shazam’s rapidly-growing TV business, but music fans should appreciate it too.
