It was a big day for Spotify boss Daniel Ek yesterday: besides announcing his company’s partnership with Coca-Cola, he was named on Time magazine’s 100 Most Influential People in the World list. Actor and tech investor Ashton Kutcher penned a glowing reference too: “Daniel has democratized music in a social-commerce environment that rewards true artistry. He acknowledges success as a triumph of the masses and not of individuals.” And so on. Music artists joining Ek on the list include Rihanna, Adele and Raphael Saadiq, while tech counterparts include Apple CEO Tim Cook and Facebook COO Sheryl Sandberg. As Marketing Land points out, some of the choices are distinctly quirky: nobody from Google, and Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg is left out too.
