Last week, Bloomberg suggested that Vivendi was considering breaking itself in two, with one company containing Universal Music Group and Activision Blizzard, and the other its telecoms and content distribution divisions. Vivendi has bluntly denied that such a strategy is being considered, however. “Vivendi learned with stupefaction of the claims made by Bloomberg in a story published tonight about its strategy,” says the company’s statement. “Vivendi vigorously denies all the assertions in the story, which are unfounded and based on anonymous sources.” Time will tell just how unfounded they are, of course.
