Here’s another example of a brand using music for its online marketing. Butter-maker Lurpak has launched FoodBeats, a site that promises to deliver streaming music based on the recipe that you’re cooking at the time. It’s working with Last.fm on the technology, which prompts you to say what you’re cooking and how long you’re doing it for. “FoodBeats tailors specially selected songs into a playlist based on the listener’s chosen recipe and learned musical preferences,” explains Last.fm. “So, for example, anyone cooking sausage and mash might be served anything from 60’s mod rocker vibes through to the fun Britpop of the 90’s.” Alas, the site doesn’t appear to recognise ‘Pot Noodle’.
