Apps and fan-communities service Mobile Backstage has raised €1m of ‘bridge’ funding, with Finnish state investment body Finnvera, Miston Ltd, angel investors and the company’s own executives chipping in. The funding will partly be used to open a San Francisco office to beef up Mobile Backstage’s US presence against competition from LA-headquartered Mobile Roadie. The company has also hired Johannes Milén as its new COO, joining from Finnish corporation Rautakesko of Kesko to provide some big-company skills. Mobile Backstage has made apps for artists including Jessie J, The Kooks, Lykke Li and Tinie Tempah in the last year, although it hasn’t provided download numbers – saying instead that its apps have generated “over 4m interactions and 100m page views”.
