Socialist candidate Francois Hollande’s victory in the French presidential election last weekend has ignited speculation about the future for the company’s Hadopi anti-filesharing body. Hollande’s party has been promising to revoke the Hadopi legislation, but news magazine L’Express has suggested two other likely courses of action. First, he may suspend the Hadopi system ahead of reworking the legislation in 2013. But second, the French government may turn its attention away from individual filesharers and towards a crackdown on filesharing websites – a strategy being pursued elsewhere in Europe already.
