Big news from ‘social sound platform’ SoundCloud last night, as it unveiled a private beta of what the company is describing as “The Next SoundCloud”. That means a redesign of its website and platform, with a new waveform player and profiles, easier sharing and updates from friends, and a focus on ‘sets’ of sounds rather than playlists. “It’s much more than an aesthetic change. By making use of state of the art technologies available in the latest generation browsers, we’ve created a technology platform that enables us to provide a much better user experience and develop new features faster,” said CTO Eric Wahlforss at the launch in San Francisco. SoundCloud also said it now has more than 15m users, from musicians and journalists through to consumers.
