Who would pass on an album of cover versions and French chanson by Iggy Pop? His label Virgin EMI, that’s who. Pop says he’s been forced to release the album, ‘Après’, himself. “They didn’t think they would make any money, they didn’t think my fans would like it … They would have preferred that I do a rock album with popular punks, sort of like ‘Hi Dad!’,” says Pop. “What has a record company ever done for me but humiliate and torment and drag me down?” Well, quite. Après was released first on French site Vente Privée, before launching on other digital stores.
