Greek politicians may have their hands full right now with a political and financial crisis, but the country’s courts are turning their attention to illegal filesharing. Local ISPs have been ordered to block two websites: Ellinadiko and Music-Bazaar, which have both been accused of copyright infringement. The ruling from the Athens First Instance court follows a similar order in the UK that has seen The Pirate Bay blocked by several ISPs. As ever, where there’s anti-piracy action, there’s a Pirate Party rabble-rousing in protest: the Greek Pirate Party says it is “ready to implement any lawful technological measure to ensure freedom of communication, speech and exchange ideas online and in society”.
