There’s a lot of activity around apps and music education at the moment, epitomised by the award-winning WildChords iPad app. That requires the user to have their own guitar, but startup Incident is taking a different approach. It’s selling a guitar with a built-in iPhone dock, and a companion app that teaches the user to play. The digital instrument uses sensors to relay the user’s plucking to the iPhone, which is what produces the sound. The guitar will cost $450 when it eventually goes on sale, but the company is raising funds to make the first run on – where else? – Kickstarter. Having launched a 35-day project on the crowdfunding site yesterday looking to raise $100k, the company is already up to $114k.
