Live music discovery platform Songkick has created a new suite of publishing tools for bands to help them manage all their tour information online. Tourbox offers “enter once, publish everywhere” functionality through a customisable plug-in. The acts can add their own tour data rather than rely on data ingested by Songkick from its ticketing and data partners. This comes after Songkick integrations with the likes of SoundCloud, YouTube, the Hype Machine and Spotify to help join up different parts of the web for musicians (particularly unsigned and emerging ones) and link it all back to pushing their tour dates. Songkick has worked with booking agency Windish Agency on Tourbox and acts already using it include M83, M Ward, Soundgarden and Of Montreal. With over 6m people a month using Songkick, finding ways to stand out and connect with these potential fans will become harder and harder for acts. But a whole new range of services – alongside Songkick there are SoundCloud, Mobile Roadie, Topspin, Bandcamp, RootMusic and Onesheet – are simplify things for artists of all sizes and finally coming good on all the DIY promises that were rashly being made on MySpace’s behalf back in 2005.
