Apple will have to defend itself against a lawsuit that accuses the company of letting advertisers track the activity of mobile device users, following a court ruling in the US yesterday. Owners of Apple devices such as iPhones, iPads and iPod Touches may now pursue claims against Apple under Californian consumer protection laws, although US District Judge Lucy Koh threw out claims that Apple violated customers’ privacy rights.
