Megaupload mogul Kim Dotcom remains in New Zealand, as the US government continues its attempts to secure his extradition to face criminal charges. A hearing is scheduled for 6 August, but the New Zealand High Court now says the case needs an urgent review, amid arguments over whether Dotcom’s lawyers should be allowed to see the evidence against him held by the US. If the case collapses, the fallout for the US would be considerable – and the likelihood of similar action being taken against other sites significantly reduced.
