94% of all songs were downloaded less than 100 times in 2011 in the US, according to stats shared by Nielsen at the New Music Seminar conference yesterday. That includes 8m songs that were downloaded just once apiece last year. Not such a lucrative long tail. As Digital Music News points out, this follows previously-released stats by Nielsen showing that the top 10 artists accounted for 9.52% of all single-track downloads in the US in 2011, while the top 10 digital albums took 6.43% of the total digital albums market that year.
