We were interested in US startup 955 Dreams early, when it was making iPad apps about jazz and Woodstock (Bulletin, 24-Jan-11). It since made the Band Of The Day discovery app, which has been downloaded 2m times on iOS. Now the company has built its own advertising engine to run glossy, full-screen ads, starting with Red Bull and Burberry. What’s more, 955 Dreams wants to turn this into a wider ad network – something that may be of interest to labels and music startups looking to make more money from their mobile apps.
