After raising $1.2m on Kickstarter for a new album, art-book and tour, Amanda Palmer has inked a deal with Cooking Vinyl to handle the distribution, project management and marketing/promotion for the album in the UK and Europe. What? The poster-artist for D2C needs a label? Actually, it’s a logical move: Palmer keeps 100% of the rights and artistic control of the campaign. “I’m trying really, really hard to find the perfect, organic partnerships now that I’m free from Roadrunner – assembling people who really understand the importance of taking the big picture, the future, the fans’ experience and the art itself into account, instead of ‘moving units’ with blinders on…”
