Nokia has been quietly taking its mobile Mix Radio service more global, according to content creation boss Jethro Borthwick. “It’s just become available in its twenty-first country, starting from just a handful at launch,” he tells Nokia’s own Conversations blog. Borthwick also gives an interesting usage stat for the Pandora-esque Mix Radio, which is available on Nokia’s Lumia Windows Phones. “Around 30% of the music available accounts for 70% of the downloads. The average person wants superstars and pop hits from their local charts. But then there’s a very long tail. All of the Mixes get listened to by some people.”
