Comedian Louis CK made waves last year by selling a DRM-free video of his live show directly to fans for $5, making $1m in revenues in its first 12 days. Now he’s blazing another trail that will be familiar to some music artists. CK has cut out the ticketing middlemen for his upcoming tour, selling tickets for $45 on his own website. He reserves the right to cancel tickets with a refund if the buyer is caught selling them on for a higher price online, too – “to prevent someone who has no intention of seeing the show from buying the ticket and just flipping it for twice the price from a thousand miles away”.
