We’ve been excited about the potential of open music service Tomahawk for a while now. For a primer, read Jason Herskowitz’s blog post on the promise of its Toma.hk site. “A single, universally playable, URL for a song – Spotify subscribers, Rdio subscribers, iTunes buyers, YouTube hunters, music blog scourers … all able to share with each other… a conversation about a song by an artist, not a link to a particular reproduction of that song from a specific provider.” He goes into more detail on the implications for ‘curators’, artists and labels and music app developers too.
