It’s about time we started calling the criminal prosecution of Megaupload boss Kim Dotcom a troubled process, don’t you think? The latest setback for the US and New Zealand authorities is a judge’s ruling that part of their search of Dotcom’s mansion was illegal. Warrants to take and then copy the contents of 135 computer hard drives were invalid, according to the ruling. The extradition process goes on, but so far it’s been a series of embarrassments for the authorities, which doesn’t bode well for an ultimate trial.
