Collecting societies across Europe are set to come under pressure to speed up their processing and payment systems. The European Commission is set to unveil a draft law on Wednesday that will give societies 12 months after the financial year in which tracks are played to pay artists, composers and songwriters. Reuters reports that they’ll also be ordered to separate royalties from investments. If the draft bill becomes law, the impact will vary by society – some have been notably quicker to modernise than others already.
