Like a number of developers and entrepreneurs, former Imeem CEO Dalton Caldwell has a bee in his bonnet about Twitter’s current direction, as it focuses more on advertising and places more restrictions on what developers can do with its API. Caldwell is doing something about it though: he wants to make an alternative, and is raising $500k on Kickstarter to launch it. “Running a service that is important to people with some sort of hand-wavy platitudes about someday launching a ‘new form of advertising’ is not OK. It’s not fair to users, it’s not fair to employees, and we should all know better…”
