As the giants of Silicon Valley continue to position themselves for battles ahead, Apple and Twitter have cemented their alliance by integrating Twitter into Mac OS X as well as iOS software. Now there’s a new dimension to the story though: the New York Times claims Apple has “talked with Twitter in recent months about making a strategic investment in it” that could be “in the hundreds of millions of dollars”. However, the speculation has been dampened by a Wall Street Journal follow-up claiming that the discussions actually took place “more than a year ago” and that they “didn’t immediately result in a deal, and aren’t currently active”.
