Universal Music hardly needs fans to chip in to help it fund a box-set for BB King, so what is the company doing partnering with PledgeMusic? It’s an interesting tie-up hinting at a new line of business for the crowdfunding company. Fans are being encouraged to pledge (i.e. pre-order) the box-set, with the reward being a rare download album and access to “a growing range of items and some amazing extras”, as well as “exclusive content, news and updates” posted to the project’s PledgeMusic updates page. The campaign runs until 24 September, when the box-set will be released through traditional retailers.
