Some familiar digital music figures have made it onto Billboard’s new 40 Under 40 list of “the young executives who are propelling our industry with their artistic and business vision”. They include Vevo’s Rio Caraeff, Spotify’s Daniel Ek, SoundCloud’s Alexander Ljung, 7digital’s Ben Drury, The Echo Nest’s Jim Lucchese, Ingrooves Fontana’s Robb McDaniels, and Hollywood’s Sean Parker. Digital-savvy managers Scooter Braun, Troy Carter and Guy Oseary are also on the list, although commenters on the online version are already wondering about the predominance of white men in the list.
