There are already several companies helping music artists to livestream their gigs on Facebook – Livestream, Ustream, OnTheAir and so on. Now there’s another one for the list: DaCast. Launching this week, it helps bands run webcasts on Facebook, with fans buying pay-per-view access using PayPal, credit cards or Facebook credits. DaCast is pitching itself as the most affordable platform for smaller bands, taking 10% of revenues for events. Backed by $2m of angel funding, the company is looking beyond music too: 25% of its early customers are religious institutions taking donations for streaming services.
