Grooveshark complaining about “rogue apps” that facilitate copyright infringement? Cue coffee-spluttering shock among label execs and licensed streaming services. Yet Grooveshark is, indeed, unhappy at the launch of an extension for Google’s Chrome browser called Grooveshark Downloader which lets people download any song that’s available to stream on Grooveshark. “We are taking action to block this category of apps and have asked Google to take down this app and any like it from their Chrome store,” a spokesperson tells Evolver.fm. “To date, Google has been unresponsive to our requests. It is unfortunate that Google has decided to block Grooveshark’s official applications from Chrome and Android stores but continues to allow these rogue apps.”
