IDC‘s latest analysis of the smartphone market claims that in Q2 this year, 85% of all smartphones shipped were either iPhone or Android handsets. IDC estimates that Android alone accounted for 68.1% of all smartphone shipments in Q2 – 104.8m handsets – with Apple’s 26m iPhones taking a 16.9% market share. It’s then a big drop to BlackBerry (7.4m devices / 4.8% share), Symbian (6.8m / 4.4%) and Windows Phone (5.4m / 3.5%).
