Pivotshare‘s website has all the buzzwords: “a complete media business-in-a-box… multiple media monetization options on the fly… your perfect media monetization solution” and so on. What is it? A new service to help people create their own channels, add video and audio content, and then make money from a mixture of subscriptions, pay-per-view. Focused on streams rather than downloads, it’s less of a Bandcamp competitor for music artists, and more a rival for YouTube and livestreaming services. Although many bands will wonder whether switching to a new startup is worth the risk compared to working on their YouTube and Facebook presences.
