Rihanna’s Talk That Talk album set an unwelcome British chart record this week, becoming the first release to hit the number one slot with less than 10,000 weekly sales since modern records began in 1994. The album sold 9,578 copies to top the chart, although even this was boosted by deep discounting, with the album available for as little as £3 from Tesco online, including postage. Of these sales, 7,266 were for the CD version.
