Streaming films and TV service Netflix says it has signed up 1m members in the UK and Ireland in the seven months since launching there. However, the company hasn’t said how many of those first million members are paying for its service, as opposed to having signed up for its free trial but not converted into paying subscribers. Netflix has commissioned a survey from YouGov that suggests 10% of the UK population is now spending two hours or more a day watching TV shows delivered over the internet, though. Note, this includes services like the BBC’s iPlayer and Virgin Media’s catch-up service, not just Netflix.
