One of the most long-running cases of an individual being sued for illegal filesharing is… Well, it’s still running. Joel Tenenbaum, who was convicted for downloading and sharing 31 songs back in 2009, has spent the last three years fighting to get his $675k fine reduced by the courts. A Massachusetts federal court has now confirmed that amount, rejecting Tenenbaum’s request for a new jury trial. The fine was subsequently reduced to $67.5k by the original judge, then bumped back up to $675k by the court of appeals. The RIAA has welcomed the latest decision to stick with that amount. We daresay this still isn’t the last we’ve heard of the case.
