Headphones firm Beats made waves with its recent acquisition of streaming music service Mog, but it seems the company’s ambitions stretch some way beyond that. Boy Genius Report – a tech site with a good record on these kinds of leaks/scoops – claims that Beats is working with part-owner HTC on a Beats-branded Android smartphone, but also with Samsung on a Beats-branded television. Oh, and also “Beats is creating an iTunes-like service code-named Daisy, and it will also feature a subscription-based model for music streaming”. None of the firms mentioned is commenting on the record for now. The smartphone and Daisy rumours make more sense than the TV one, although some kind of partnership to put Beats technology in Samsung sets is more believable.
Next up for Beats: A smartphone, a TV and an iTunes rival?
