The Hangout video-chatting feature on Google+ is starting to pick up fans among music artists, with LCD Soundsystem’s James Murphy the latest to chat to fans using the social network. Promoting the new ‘Shut Up And Play The Hits’ film about the now-hiatused band, Murphy took part in a Q&A on Google+, with other band members dialling in, and fans able to submit questions through Google+. Meanwhile, Irish band The Script also held a Hangout chat with fans this week on their own Google+ page. As we’ve said before, there is still plenty of speculation about how many (or rather how few) people are actively using Google+, but tools like Hangout – not to mention hopes for an SEO boost on Google’s search engine – are attracting more artists by the month.
