Amazon is holding a press launch later today in LA that’s expected to see the debut of new Kindle Fire tablets. However, tech blog The Verge has set tongues wagging online with the claim that the event could also see Amazon unveil its first smartphone. Citing multiple sources, the blog suggests that Amazon is hard at work on an Android-based smartphone using Nokia’s mapping technology. If true, it would be reasonable to suppose that Amazon’s own music service would be tightly integrated into the handset, just as it is the Kindle Fire. We’ll have a full report on the event in tomorrow’s Bulletin.
