The world of torrents is rapidly going mobile in 2012, with BitTorrent playing a key role. The company launched uTorrent Beta for Android yesterday – a free app to “find torrents and download them directly to your smartphone… designed to be easy-to-use, super-fast, and make your Android device so much more fun”. The app is “currently free”, hinting at potential plans to charge once it comes out of beta. This isn’t the first such app from BitTorrent, though: it already has a separate BitTorrent Beta app available for Android, which according to Google’s stats has been downloaded more than 500,000 times.
