Twitter has rolled out a new feature that could be very useful for artists and other music sites. It’s a tool to make it easier to embed “interactive timelines” of tweets on websites: “Whether it’s an author’s Tweets alongside their blog, a hashtag about an event like #DNC2012, or a list of competitors at the US Open”. People visiting that site can interact with the tweets as if they were on the main Twitter site, expanding photos, watching videos and replying/following from the timeline widget. Author Margaret Atwood is already using it on her official website – showing the potential for artists. But the hashtag element could also make it useful for festivals, music TV shows and specific artist campaigns.
