In our recent special issue on investment, we wrote about media and entertainment companies running incubator programmes for startups, including Turner Broadcasting’s Turner Media Camp. The scheme has just revealed its first six startups to graduate. They are: Chute (a platform to help brands and publishers add photo and video features to their sites); Matcha (social discovery for Netflix, iTunes, Hulu etc); Showbucks (social video games); Socialize (something about interest graphs that eludes us); SocialSamba (social storytelling to help people ‘friend their favourite fictional characters); and Switchcam (interactive videos). As we wrote in our piece, schemes like this show a possible next step on for music-industry initiatives like EMI’s OpenEMI.
