With 75m monthly unique visitors, Vimeo is among the biggest video sites that aren’t YouTube, even if it’s a long way behind Google’s site. A number of music artists use Vimeo though, thanks to its focus on features for ‘creators’, some of which go beyond what YouTube offers. Now there are a couple more new features that may be of interest. Vimeo has launched a ‘tip jar’ for all videos, enabling viewers to donate money to the creators (after Vimeo takes a 15% cut, of course). The second new feature is a little way off – a paywall platform for people on its Vimeo Pro tier, enabling them to charge for watching specific videos. Although aimed more at filmmakers and TV producers, it could be useful for artists uploading live shows.
