Shazam announced its 250m users milestone last week, but music rival SoundHound has its own big figure this week. The company says it has just passed the 100m-user mark, which means 100m people who have downloaded and used its app ever. Neither company has revealed an active-users total. SoundHound does say that it’s generating more than 200k downloads a day across iOS and Android though – a figure that means 1.4m a week versus Shazam’s 2m, although SoundHound says its record is 1m new downloads in a day. “The speed of growth of our user base has been phenomenal, driven almost exclusively through viral efforts,” says CEO Keyvan Mohajer.
