But as things stand, European regulators are expected to announce their decision on the approval of Universal Music‘s acquisition of EMI’s recorded music division today. All the speculation is pointing to a ‘yes’ verdict, but opinions continue to differ on how much UMG will have to sell – the Wall Street Journal claims it could be as much as 60% of EMI’s European business. Although the EC has until 27 September to announce its decision, we’ll keep you updated if the announcement does come today.
