
As more entertainment consumption happens on mobile devices, richer forms of mobile advertising will become a more significant revenue stream for the music industry. Think YouTube and Vevo’s apps, for starters. So here’s some heartening predictions from Adsmobi and research firm mobileSquared, who think that video will become the biggest driver of mobile ads in seven key European countries in the next four years. They think that across France, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands, Russia, Spain and the UK, 152m people are currently watching video on their mobile devices, but that this will rise to 274m by 2016, with mobile advertising spending rising from $1bn in 2012 to $4bn in 2016.
