Livestreaming firm Ustream launched a new iPhone app in August called Broadcast for Friends, aimed squarely at consumers who want to easily broadcast live video from their phones to their Facebook friends. Now it’s been updated with a new feature making it more appealing to music artists: the ability to broadcast to fans as well as friends. By which we mean broadcasting live video from the iPhone app to Facebook Pages, rather than regular profiles. It requires admin status on the Page, mind. In theory, BFF could now cannibalise usage of Ustream’s more professional app, Ustream Broadcaster: we sense a lot of artists will prefer the easier version if they just want to stream some quick footage from backstage, tourbus or recording studio.
