Stereomood is one of the startups trying to offer music discovery ‘by mood’, serving up playlists of independent music to listeners based on how they’re feeling at the time. The service has just been redesigned, adding artist biographies and concert listings, more editorial content on its homepage, social playlist-sharing on Facebook, Twitter and Pinterest, and a better search feature. The music itself is still pulled from more than 150 external blogs and music sites. Stereomood says its service, which is available online as well as on iOS and Android, is now attracting 1m monthly unique users.
