Google announced its latest big milestone for Android yesterday: 25bn app and game downloads from its Google Play store, up from 20bn in late June. That means the store is currently doing just under 1.7bn downloads a month, which is exactly what Apple’s iOS App Store was doing earlier this year. Google is celebrating with a big bargain-sale on its store that goes beyond apps. Lots of Android games have had their prices cut to $0.25, but there’s also a ’25 Albums That Changed The World’ promotion selling albums by the likes of Public Enemy, the Beach Boys, Lady Gaga, Lil Wayne and Bob Marley for $3.99/$5.99.
